Atrial Fibrillation
Irregular Heart Rhythm
An irregular and often rapid heart rhythm arising from disorganized electrical signals in the atria, increasing risk of stroke and heart failure.
Atrial fibrillation is the most common sustained cardiac arrhythmia, affecting over 33 million people globally. It significantly increases the risk of stroke, heart failure, and mortality. Management has two main goals: rate or rhythm control and anticoagulation to prevent thromboembolic events. Beta-blockers and calcium channel blockers are preferred for rate control.
