A chronic inflammatory bowel disease that can affect any part of the digestive tract, causing abdominal pain, diarrhea, and weight loss.

Crohn's disease involves transmural inflammation that can affect any segment of the gastrointestinal tract from mouth to anus, most commonly the terminal ileum. Treatment targets mucosal healing and includes aminosalicylates, corticosteroids for acute flares, immunomodulators, and biologic therapies (TNF-alpha inhibitors, integrin antagonists).
