Otitis Media

An infection of the middle ear, most often caused by bacteria following a cold or upper respiratory infection.

Otitis media involves inflammation and infection of the middle ear space. It is the most common reason children are prescribed antibiotics. Amoxicillin is the first-line antibiotic for most cases, with alternatives for penicillin-allergic patients.
