Endometriosis
Endometrial Tissue Growth Outside Uterus
A condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, causing pelvic pain and potentially affecting fertility.
Endometriosis affects approximately 10% of reproductive-age women and is a leading cause of chronic pelvic pain and infertility. Hormonal therapies (combined oral contraceptives, progestins, GnRH agonists) are the medical mainstay to suppress lesion growth. NSAIDs treat pain symptomatically; laparoscopic surgery is considered for diagnostic confirmation and treatment-refractory disease.
