Menopause

Climacteric Transition

The natural cessation of menstruation marking the end of reproductive years, often accompanied by hot flashes, mood changes, and bone loss.

Menopause is defined as 12 consecutive months of amenorrhea due to loss of ovarian follicular activity. The transition is associated with estrogen deficiency causing vasomotor symptoms, genitourinary changes, mood disturbances, and accelerated bone loss. Hormone therapy remains the most effective treatment for vasomotor symptoms in eligible women.
