Degenerative Joint Disease
A degenerative joint disease causing cartilage breakdown, pain, stiffness, and reduced range of motion, most commonly in the knees, hips, and hands.
Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis and a leading cause of disability in older adults. It involves progressive loss of articular cartilage and secondary bone changes. Risk factors include aging, obesity, prior joint injury, and female sex. Management combines non-pharmacologic measures with analgesics and anti-inflammatory medications.
