Phobia

Phobic Anxiety Disorder

An intense, irrational fear of a specific object or situation that leads to avoidance behavior.

Phobic disorders involve disproportionate fear responses to specific stimuli, causing significant distress and functional impairment. Cognitive-behavioral therapy with exposure is the gold-standard treatment. SSRIs and gabapentinoids may be used as adjunctive pharmacotherapy.
