Sinusitis
Rhinosinusitis
Inflammation of the sinuses, causing facial pain and pressure, nasal congestion, and thick nasal discharge.
Sinusitis may be acute (viral or bacterial) or chronic. The vast majority of acute cases are viral and do not require antibiotics. Intranasal corticosteroids, saline irrigation, and decongestants are first-line symptomatic treatments. Amoxicillin-clavulanate is the antibiotic of choice for confirmed bacterial sinusitis.
