Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo

A sudden sensation that you or your surroundings are spinning, most often caused by inner ear problems.

Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is the most common cause of vertigo, caused by displaced calcium carbonate crystals in the semicircular canals. The Epley maneuver is the primary treatment. Vestibular suppressants (meclizine, dimenhydrinate) and antiemetics provide symptomatic relief for acute episodes of any vertigo type.
