Alzheimer's Disease
Alzheimer's Disease
A progressive neurological disorder that causes the brain to shrink and brain cells to die, leading to memory loss and cognitive decline.
Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia, accounting for 60–80% of cases. Cholinesterase inhibitors (donepezil, rivastigmine, galantamine) and memantine provide modest symptomatic benefit. Novel anti-amyloid therapies (lecanemab, aducanumab) are emerging disease-modifying options.
